Grow the Sport
•Any open space of about 15-25 acres of land is satisfactory for a standard DG course of 18 holes.
•Available area for a DG course can work in as little as 6-10 acres for 9 hole course configuration.
•This involves zig zag pattern and the sharing of fairways ( the area from tee pad to basket).
•DG holes should be a minimum of 200 feet in length with no maximum. (PDGA)
•Average hole length measurements from 4 local Southland Courses
•Short - 214 feet
•Long – 343 feet
Minimum materials/items necessary DG baskets, signage at every tee pad/area.
•Placement of tee pads/area and baskets can move to alternate positions depending on design preference.
•Obstacles such as trees and hedges promote shot-shaping techniques.
•Holes should be designed on the perimeter of parks and in low traffic areas to avoid hitting park visitors in mixed-use areas.
Example of hole design with two tee-off mats in red and white as well as A and B target options. Road/trail showing OB or out - of- bounds encourages throwers to keep disc away from traffic areas
