Cost for Materials and Design

DG materials and design is fairly inexpensive when compared to other park recreation. According to Play & Park Structures, a leading playground building company, playground structures cost about $1000 per child using it. Simply, if you’re going to have 50 children playing, you should budget at least $50,000. This cost includes surface installation, structure installation, yearly maintenance, etc. Compared with $5000 initial cost for a 9-hole DG course, where players of all ages can enjoy, it seems like the more cost-effective recreation. There is little maintenance required for DG courses. Speaking with Pat Trevors, who maintains HBDG Course in Huntington Beach, "the only real upkeep is picking up the beer cans left behind from the less Eco-minded players, and occasionally we'll do trail maintenance but not often. We plant trees."

Funds can be raised through local fundraisers as well as online funds-raising sites. While speaking to 30 residents at local Pomona parks, I was heartened that more than half were willing to contribute a donation and they were excited to hear of the prospect of a new recreation in their cities parks.
